In Timarpur, many families struggle to meet even the most basic needs. For the girls and women in these slums, access to menstrual hygiene is not a given, but rather a luxury that is often out of reach. With limited household income, purchasing sanitary pads each month becomes a challenge. Furthermore, there's a noticeable reluctance in these communities to openly discuss menstruation, adding another layer of difficulty. However, a significant change occurred when Pinkishe Foundation, in partnership with Enactus Ramjas College, New Delhi, stepped in. On September 6, 2023, they launched a menstrual literacy drive in Timarpur. This initiative was not just about distributing pads; it was a comprehensive effort to educate young girls and women about menstruation. The volunteers from Pinkishe Foundation worked diligently to demystify periods, emphasizing that it should not be a taboo subject. The impact of this drive was profound. Not only did it provide essential menstrual hygiene products, but it also instilled a sense of pride in the beneficiaries about their menstrual cycle.
