Empowering Girls Through Menstrual Health Education – 3rd October 2024

On 3rd October 2024, The UBA cell of SIST, in collaboration with Pinkishe Foundation, conducted a highly successful Menstrual Health & Hygiene Education Camp at the Seminar Hall of Government Senior Secondary School in Nandugoan, Namchi District. This event aimed to equip young girls with essential knowledge about menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation.

Breaking the Silence Around Menstruation

During the session, facilitators from The UBA cell of SIST educated the participants on various aspects of menstrual health. Topics covered included understanding the menstrual cycle, maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation, and dispelling common myths and misconceptions about periods. The session fostered an open and interactive atmosphere, encouraging girls to ask questions and engage in discussions. By addressing these topics, the event aimed to empower young girls with the information they need to manage their menstrual health confidently and effectively.

Free Sanitary Pad Distribution for Better Access

A key component of the camp was the distribution of free sanitary pads to all participants. Recognizing that access to menstrual hygiene products remains a significant barrier for many girls, this initiative was crucial in ensuring that attendees could maintain proper hygiene throughout their menstrual cycle. By providing these essential products, the event not only educated the girls but also directly addressed a critical issue that affects their health and well-being.

A Step Towards Empowering Girls

The Menstrual Health & Hygiene Education Camp marked a significant step towards empowering young girls in the Namchi District. By facilitating education and providing access to sanitary products, The UBA cell of SIST, with the support of Pinkishe Foundation, aimed to foster a more informed and positive approach to menstruation. This initiative contributes to the broader goal of breaking taboos and stigmas associated with menstruation, ensuring that every girl has the knowledge and resources needed to manage her menstrual health with confidence and dignity.

Through continued efforts in menstrual health education and awareness, Pinkishe Foundation and its partners are committed to creating a future where every girl can navigate her menstrual health without fear or embarrassment.
